The three Nigerian football stars who play for Leicester City, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Lille , were shortlisted alongside 27 other African footballers including the last years winner, Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool for the Confederation of African Football (CAF) award.
The Lille star joins the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Riyad Mahrez on the 30-man list of candidates for this year’s award
Victor Osimhen joined by Mohamed Salah, Percy Tau and Wilfred Ndidi is on the preliminary list of nominees for the 2019 African Player of the Year award. And Liverpool player Mo Salah beats his teammate Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the player of the year award in 2018 after impressing for both club and country.
Although, he faces competition for this year’s diadem from the young Lille forward who has been in fine scoring form since his move from Royal Charleroi Sporting Club.
Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze and striker Victor Osimhen also made the shortlist for the CAF Youth Player of the Year 2019 nominees.
